katte - being at home

katté means a platform around a tree in kannada.
it is a forum or meetingpoint for people. it has sacred associations when you see it around a peepul-tree. It is also a place to pause and to feel at home.

katté - being at home is the 4 week process of salon emmer in cooperation with maraa. salon emmer shared its artistic approach with performers, artists, students and pupils and exchanged ways of expression through movement. connecting with the community around 1shanthi road and getting to know the work of maraa ́s artists and other community projects was another important part of salon emmer´s residency in bangalore in february and march 2010.

salon emmer is the artistic collaboration and virtual home of tanja dinter and lisa lengheimer, which was founded in 2008. since then salon emmer has performed independently in private and public spaces. salon emmer works with invited guest and incidental audience. considering art having the potential to affect personal and social change, we see our artistic practise located between interactive performance and inclusive teaching. tanja dinter and lisa lengheimer live and work in vienna.
